Nude study by George Da Maduro Peixotto (1862-1937). Oil on canvas. George Peixotto worked in Cleveland, Ohio, and New York city, and studied in Europe. He also exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts, England. He is known for landscapes and portraits, as well as scupture. The frame is by association. Overall: 25 1/5" X 22". Sight: 18" X 15".
Landscape of a farm and surrounding hills by Ernest Fredericks (1877-1959). Fredericks painted mostly in Illinois and Arkansas and came to Eureka Springs, Ark. from Chicago. He is buried in Eureka Springs. He was a prolific painter and his colors are quite striking. Overall: 26" X 29 3/4". Sight: 20" X 23 3/4".
Nice little watercolor depicting one the emblems of the American Brotherhood of Marine Engineers. This is now the American Maritime Officers union. This watercolor is still very bright but there is a little water stain on the bottom. There is a little piece of glass missing in the upper left corner. Overall 11" X 9". Sight: 9 3/4" X 7 3/4".
Rare pair of watercolor portraits by William Gosse. Signed on both "W. Gosse 1853", twice on the gentleman. From the collection of Harriette Gorman, Texas. Research found William Gosse was born in Worcester, England in 1808. In 1822, he went to Newfoundland to work in his uncle's mercantile. He left Newfoundland in the 1840's and returned to England where this pair was certainly painted. He fourished Ca. 1830-1847. Rare. Overall: 17" high X 14 1/2" wide. Sight: 13" high X 10 1/2" wide.
